Verse Explanation
The angel of the Lord instructs Elijah the prophet to intercept Ahaziah's messengers. Elijah is told to ask why the king is seeking guidance from a foreign god instead of the God of Israel. The question exposes Israel's spiritual failure and the king's lack of faith in the Lord.
History
Elijah continued serving as God's prophet during the transition from Ahab to Ahaziah.
