"You will become pregnant. You will have a son. He must not use a razor on his head. He must not cut his hair. That is because the boy will be a Nazirite. He will be set apart to God from the day he is born. He will begin to save Israel from the power of the Philistines."

Verse Explanation
The Angel declared that the child would be a Nazirite dedicated to God from birth. No razor was ever to touch his head, symbolizing lifelong consecration to the Lord. The Angel also revealed that this son would begin to deliver Israel from the Philistines. The word "begin" is important because Samson would weaken Philistine power, while the final deliverance would later come through Samuel and King David.
History
Samson's Nazirite dedication was lifelong, unlike the temporary Nazirite vows commonly practiced in Israel.
