Why was Manoah afraid he would die after seeing an angel?

In Judges 13, the angel of the LORD appeared to Manoah's wife, who couldn't have children, and told her she would have a son who would save Israel from the Philistines. That son was Samson. Manoah prayed for the man of God to come back, and he did. Manoah asked his name, and the angel said, "Why do you ask my name? It is beyond understanding." Manoah offered a sacrifice, and as the flame rose from the altar, the angel went up in the flame. Manoah and his wife fell on their faces. Manoah said, "We are doomed to die! We have seen God!" His wife calmly answered, "If the LORD had meant to kill us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering and grain offering from our hands, nor shown us all these things or now told us this." Her common sense was right. The story shows the fear people had of seeing God, and it also shows God's kindness.
