Why did Ahaz pay Tiglath-pileser?
When Rezin and Pekah attacked, Ahaz asked Tiglath-pileser for help and sent him silver and gold from the temple and palace. Assyria then captured Damascus, deported its people and killed Rezin (2 Kings 16:7-9).
