Where did Isaac live?
Isaac spent his life in the southern part of Canaan, mostly in the Negev. After Abraham's servant brought Rebekah to him, "Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev." That was the well where the angel had found Hagar. Later, during a famine, Isaac went to Gerar, the Philistine town, where he said Rebekah was his sister, as his father had done. He grew so wealthy there that the Philistines envied him and filled his father's wells with dirt. He reopened them and dug new ones, and after arguments over water, he moved away, naming his wells Esek, Sitnah and finally Rehoboth, meaning "room." Then he went to Beersheba, where God appeared to him and he built an altar and made a treaty with Abimelech. Isaac was living there when Jacob tricked him. At the end of his life, he was in Hebron, where Jacob came back to him, and he died there at 180.
