What did the prophet Jehu son of Hanani predict about King Baasha?
Baasha became king of Israel by killing Jeroboam's son and wiping out Jeroboam's whole family, which fulfilled Ahijah's prophecy. But then Baasha went on committing the same sins as Jeroboam. So the prophet Jehu son of Hanani brought God's word to him. God said, "I lifted you up from the dust and appointed you ruler over my people Israel, but you followed the ways of Jeroboam." Because of that, God would do to Baasha's family exactly what He had done to Jeroboam's. Those who died in the city would be eaten by dogs, and those in the country by birds. After Baasha died, his son Elah became king. Two years later, while Elah was getting drunk, his official Zimri killed him and wiped out Baasha's whole family, "in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu." Baasha became an instrument of judgment and then fell under the same judgment. Jehu later also rebuked King Jehoshaphat of Judah.
