Was Samuel descended from Levi?
Yes. Chronicles traces Samuel back through Elkanah, Zuph, Mahath and Amasai to Korah and Kohath son of Levi (1 Chronicles 6:26-28, 33-38). He is called an Ephraimite because his family lived in Ephraim (1 Samuel 1:1).
