Genesis 10:7 lists Seba as a son of Cush. Psalm 72:10 says, "May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts," picturing distant rulers honoring the king. Isaiah 43:3 says, "I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead," meaning God would give up these nations to rescue Israel. Isaiah 45:14 mentions "the Sabeans, those tall men." Seba is different from Sheba in southern Arabia, though the names are similar. Its exact location is uncertain. Some scholars place it in the region of Meroe, along the Nile in Sudan, while others suggest the coast of Eritrea or Somalia. The Greek geographer Strabo mentions a port called Saba on the African Red Sea coast.
