Jeremiah echoes, "for even the waters of Nimrim are dried up." So Nimrim was a stream or spring in Moab that once watered green land. Its location is debated. Some scholars identify it with Wadi Nimrin, near Beth-nimrah, north of the Dead Sea, but that's usually counted as Gadite territory. Most prefer Wadi en-Numeirah, a stream flowing into the southeastern corner of the Dead Sea, in southern Moab, which fits the other places named in the prophecy, like Zoar and Horonaim. Near its mouth is Numeira, an Early Bronze Age town destroyed by fire, which some link with the cities of the plain.
