Isaiah 60:7, in a vision of the nations bringing their wealth to Jerusalem, says, "All Kedar's flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you; they will be accepted as offerings on my altar." Kedar and Nebaioth were closely related Arab tribes living in the northern Arabian desert. Assyrian records of Ashurbanipal in the 600s BC mention the Nabayati, possibly the same people, fighting against Assyria. Older scholars thought the Nabateans, who built Petra, descended from Nebaioth, but most now think the names are different, since they're spelled differently in Arabic. The tribe was known for its herds of sheep and camels. Isaiah pictures even the desert tribes honoring God in Jerusalem.
