They left Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah." The name may mean "beauty" or "brightness," perhaps describing the mountain's appearance. It belongs to the long list of stops between Hazeroth and Kadesh, during the years of wandering after the spies' bad report. None of these stops has been clearly identified. It was somewhere in the Sinai Peninsula or the Negev, a region of rocky mountains, desert plains and scattered springs. Some scholars suggest Jebel Araif en-Naqa, in the northeastern Sinai, but there's no firm evidence. No events are recorded there. It's the only mountain named in this part of the list, which may mean it was a notable landmark on the route.
