Chisloth-tabor, "the flanks of Tabor," was a point on the border of the tribe of Zebulun, mentioned in Joshua 19:12, where the boundary went "east from Sarid toward the sunrise to the territory of Kisloth Tabor and went on to Daberath and up to Japhia." It's the same place as Chesulloth in Issachar's list, identified with the Arab village of Iksal, about three miles west of Mount Tabor, near Nazareth. Mount Tabor rises alone from the Jezreel Valley, about 1,900 feet high, with a rounded top, and it marked where the tribes of Zebulun, Issachar and Naphtali met. Chisloth-tabor sat on its lower western slopes, near the road from the Jezreel Valley north into Galilee. Some later traditions placed the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, visible from Iksal. No events are recorded at Chisloth-tabor itself.
