This Bozrah was a town in Moab, listed in Jeremiah 48:24 among Moabite towns facing judgment: "to Kerioth and Bozrah, to all the towns of Moab, far and near." It's different from Bozrah, the capital of Edom, further south. Many scholars think it's the same as Bezer, the city of refuge on the Moabite plateau in the territory of Reuben, which King Mesha of Moab says he rebuilt. Others have suggested Busra in the Hauran of southern Syria, later the Roman city of Bostra, but that's much further north and probably outside Moab's land. The Moabite plateau east of the Dead Sea is high, open land used for grazing sheep and growing grain, with towns built on hills. The exact location of this Bozrah remains uncertain. Jeremiah's long list of towns shows that the whole of Moab would share in the disaster when Babylon swept through the region.
